This transition towards a new style is clear in her painting "Abstraction Blue" (1927), in which undulating swirls and curves of blue tones emanating from the lower half of the canvas, bisected by a lighter crevice of paint that cuts the canvas vertically. Its design utilizes a fully-glass exterior to reflect the surrounding buildings and East River, and a bubble-like cubic design with several winding forms inside that create purposeful voids. The name "Sarcostyle" means "one of many contractile filaments that make up a striated muscle fiber." "I think Per Olof Ultvedt wanted to create a calming atmosphere because this is a station where people are in a hurry. They are changing trains to another metro line or another commuter train.
